Pets In Need Thanks You

PetSmart Charities

We’re proud to be a recipient of PetSmart Charities’ Accelerator Grant, a transformative $500,000 investment in our mission. As the cost of veterinary care continues to rise, families across the country are struggling to access even the most basic services. With support from PetSmart Charities, we’re making critical capital improvements, upgrading our systems, and expanding our team and medical supplies. These enhancements allow us to serve more pets in need—providing wellness, illness, and advanced care to the most vulnerable animals in our community while keeping services affordable for the families who love them.

Donald Klekamp

Don Klekamp, a proud Cincinnatian and longtime community leader, has made a transformational $100,000 gift to Pets In Need in loving memory of his late wife, Marianne and their cherished Westie, Lily. Known for his humility and generosity, Don often reflects on the deep values instilled by his family and the life he built with his beloved wife, Marianne - one rooted in gratitude, faith, family, and giving back. His thoughtful gift will help ensure that pets living in households facing financial hardship can access the veterinary care they need to stay healthy and remain with the people who love them. We are truly honored by Don’s support and the compassion he brings to our mission.

Joanie Bernard Foundation

We are honored to receive a $50,000 grant from The Joanie Bernard Foundation to support our Cats In Need initiative. This funding helps expand access to affordable, feline-focused care, including medications, surgeries, and a new cat-only waiting area, so more cats can stay healthy and at home with the families who love them. The Joanie Bernard Foundation’s investment is part of their ongoing commitment to improving feline health outcomes and preventing unnecessary shelter surrenders or euthanasia. With their help, we’re building a future where more cats stay healthy, in homes, and out of harm’s way.

Kenneth A. Scott Charitable Trust

We’re incredibly grateful to the Kenneth A. Scott Charitable Trust for their continued support of Pets In Need of Greater Cincinnati, including a $15,000 grant in 2025 to assist pets in urgent need of care and a $22,000 grant in 2026 to expand veterinary services for senior pets. This ongoing investment allows us to meet a wide range of needs in our community—from providing critical, non-routine care such as acute illness treatment, chronic disease management, and unexpected surgeries, to supporting comprehensive care for senior pets ages 7 and older, including wellness exams, diagnostics, dental care, and medical treatment. Together, this funding helps us reduce financial barriers across all stages of a pet’s life, ensuring more cats and dogs can receive the care they need to stay healthy, comfortable, and with the families who love them.

Greater Good Charities

We’re grateful to Greater Good Charities for their ongoing support of Pets In Need of Greater Cincinnati through in-kind donations of essential veterinary medications. Through their generous program, we’re able to request and receive the treatments our pets need most, including preventatives like NexGard PLUS and NexGard COMBO, which protect both dogs and cats against fleas, ticks, heartworms, and intestinal parasites. These medications are critical in preventing serious illness and maintaining long-term health, and this support allows us to offer high-quality preventative care at a reduced cost. Because of Greater Good Charities more pets are able to stay protected year-round and avoid preventable conditions that can quickly become serious and costly.

Joint Women's Collaborative of Wyoming

We’re grateful to the Joint Women’s Collaborative of Wyoming for their continued support of Pets In Need of Greater Cincinnati. This funding went towards prescription and therapeutic pet food. For many of the families we serve, cost is a major barrier when it comes to accessing the specialized nutrition their pets need to stay healthy. Thanks to JWC, we’re able to provide prescription diets that help manage conditions like digestive disorders and other chronic health issues, care that might otherwise be out of reach. These diets play a critical role in improving health outcomes, reducing discomfort, and preventing more serious complications that can lead to additional veterinary visits. This support not only helps pets feel better faster but also eases the financial and emotional burden on the people who love them.

Greater Cincinnati Foundation’s investment reflects our shared belief that every pet deserves care, no matter their owner’s income. With their support, we’re making a meaningful difference for families across Greater Cincinnati, one pet at a time.
