As we reach the halfway point of the year, we're taking a moment to reflect on everything we've accomplished together. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, dedicated volunteers, community partners, and hardworking team, we've already made a meaningful impact for thousands of pets and the families who love them. So far this year, we've cared for 3,000+ pets, including 516 new pets who came to Pets In Need for the very first time. That's an average of 500+ pets and 86 new pets welcomed each month! As we look ahead to the rest of the year, we’re excited to continue expanding access to compassionate veterinary care and reaching even more pets and families throughout our community.

Summer has been filled with helping hands at Pets In Need! Cub Scout Den 8 from Wyoming Pack 82 portioned pet food for our community and spruced up the outside of our clinic, while volunteers from UC Serves organized supplies, completed painting projects, and tackled improvements that keep our clinic welcoming. Every project allows our staff to spend more time caring for pets and the families who love them.
This fall, we will be welcoming Rotary members for Rotary Do Days as they celebrate service, community engagement and the spirit behind their organizations contributions. Keeping Families Together |
When Jennifer, a veteran and longtime Pets In Need client, welcomed Hughie into her home, he quickly became a source of comfort and companionship after the loss of her beloved cat, Skittles. So when Hughie developed a life-threatening urinary blockage, Jennifer knew exactly where to turn, but the cost of emergency surgery was more than she could afford.
Thanks to the contributions secured by Jennifer's Veterans Administration Intensive Case Manager combined with grant funding available through Pets In Need enough funding was secured making Hughie's lifesaving surgery possible. After a successful procedure and follow-up care, Hughie has made a full recovery and continues to visit Pets In Need for his routine veterinary care.
For Jennifer, saving Hughie's life meant preserving the special bond she shares with her beloved companion. Stories like theirs remind us that compassionate veterinary care, strong community partnerships, and generous supporters can help keep pets healthy and families together. |

Growing Future Animal Advocates |
This summer, we’ve had the joy of welcoming future veterinary professionals to Pets In Need. We recently welcomed the first recipient of the Pets In Need Scholarship from the University of Cincinnati’s Registered Veterinary Technology Program, Nikki Toler, back to our clinic, where she reconnected with our team and met scholarship donor, Don Klekamp, to celebrate the impact of educational support.
We’re also proud to host summer interns from universities across the region, including The Ohio State University. Each intern has brought fresh perspectives, enthusiasm, and a shared passion for improving the lives of pets and their families.

We’re incredibly grateful for two recent grants that will help expand access to care for pets in our community. Through Magnified Giving, Fayetteville Elementary students selected Pets In Need to receive funding, showcasing the power of young animal advocates. Their thoughtful presentation and passion for our mission reminded us that compassion can make a difference at any age.
We also received continued support from Petco Love to help provide heartworm prevention and treatment for pets who need it most. This ongoing partnership helps us remove barriers to veterinary care and provide essential services that keep more pets healthy and families together. |
