Right now, families aren’t deciding what to spend, they’re deciding what to go without. The economic strain is real and being felt everywhere. From food pantries to social services to animal welfare organizations like ours, the need is growing and it’s not slowing down. That’s why we continue to show up every day as a lifeline for the people and pets who rely on us. We remain committed to meeting people where they are and finding smarter, more sustainable ways to stretch every resource, serve more families, and deliver care—even as we face the weight of this moment ourselves.

From community events like My Furry Valentine, SPCA Furball Gala, and the Valley Interfaith Luncheon, we’re reminded how much stronger our impact is when we show up together. Each of these moments reflects a shared commitment across organizations, supporters, and neighbors to care for the animals in our community. Whether pets are in loving homes or part of the broader community, they all deserve safety, stability, and access to care. By supporting one another’s work, we’re able to expand that impact—helping more pets receive the services they need, improving living conditions, and strengthening the human-animal bond that connects us all.

Josephine came into her family’s life during a difficult time, quickly becoming a source of comfort and stability. Before adoption, she had been returned to a shelter nine times and experienced significant stress. After finding her forever home, she began facing ongoing health challenges. With support from PIN, her family was able to get her the care she needed. “I was honestly embarrassed at first, but no one made me feel low in any way,” her owner said. “Everyone was just so kind and supportive.”
As her care continued, Josephine later required surgery to remove bladder stones. When complications arose during recovery, our team stepped in to ensure she healed properly, and today, she’s doing much better. “The vets are always so caring and gentle with Josephine," her owner shared. Now nine years old, Josephine continues to bring comfort and joy to her family, just as they’ve done for her. |

We’re proud to introduce the first-ever recipient of the Pets In Need Scholarship, made possible through the generous support of Mr. Don Klekamp. This award, the largest in partnership with the University of Cincinnati Blue Ash Veterinary Technology Program, helps support the next generation of compassionate, skilled veterinary professionals.
Nikki Toler has shown incredible dedication to her future in veterinary medicine, gaining hands-on experience in shelter care, surgical nursing, and patient support, all while balancing school, leadership, and work. “This scholarship has been a lifesaver for me… I’m so grateful and excited to see how it helps future students too.” Thanks to this support, Nikki is on track to graduate debt-free and continue making a difference for animals in our community. |

We’ve recently made exciting updates to both the exterior and interior of our clinic to better serve our clients and their pets. The improvements to our exterior, made possible through the support of the Village of Lockland's Façade Program, include our new front awning and vinyl signage, which create a more welcoming and recognizable street presence, making it easier for pet owners to find us, connect with our services, and feel confident walking through our doors.
Inside the clinic, we’ve enhanced the client experience with thoughtful additions designed for comfort and care. Thanks to the generous support of Joanie Bernard Foundation, our new Cat Corner provides a calm, dedicated space for feline patients to wait for their appointments. We’ve also refreshed the Pets In Need Corner Store, offering low cost toys, apparel, and everyday pet essentials. Powered by donations, our store is a welcome addition to create a more enjoyable and supportive environment for both pets and the people who love them.

We’re incredibly grateful to have received a $22,000 grant from The Kenneth A. Scott Charitable Trust, a KeyBank Trust to support senior pets in our community. This funding allows us to expand access to essential veterinary care for cats and dogs ages 7 and older—pets who often face age-related health challenges but may go without treatment due to financial barriers.
With this support, we’re able to provide comprehensive, affordable care tailored specifically to senior pets, including wellness exams, diagnostics, dental care, and necessary medical treatments. Our goal is to help keep aging pets healthy, comfortable, and in their homes with the families who love them. Through this project, we’re not only improving quality of life for these pets, but also helping prevent unnecessary suffering, surrender, or euthanasia. |
