Visionary Dog

Frédéric Bonin-Pissarro

DESCRIPTION:
In my later work as a painter several graphic elements have been instrumental in re-defining my style from post-impressionism to Abstract Expressionism. I thought creating a repeat pattern using several of these elements would be my best option to represent my style, create continuity and interest but also avoid the "Easter Egg" effect.

ARTIST BIO:
With a modern twist, Frédéric Bonin-Pissarro continues a long family tradition of fine arts, his great-grandfather being one of the original Impressionists, Camille Pissarro. Born and raised in Paris, Frédéric learned the art of painting with father Claude Bonin-Pissarro. Jean Edelmann also influenced his style. After studying in Paris at École de Sèvres and École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts, he settled in Cincinnati, Ohio. In Cincinnati, he taught color theory, character design, writing scenario, illustration, composition and layout at the Art Institute of Cincinnati and received the Key to the City in 2001. He received a B.A. and M.A., summa cum laude, from the Morehead State University in Kentucky, where he also taught. Having recently moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, he is a professor in the Art Department at UNLV.

The Rainbow Bridge

Beth Ann Eline

DESCRIPTION:
My cat is painted starting from the front as a regular colored cat painted with a pearlized paint. As you progress back, the cat's fur slowly changes colors to darker pearlized blues and deep violets to represent the evening sky ending with the darkest color at the tip of the tail. There are tiny crystals representing glittering stars over the body of the cat. The colors of the stars change in correspondence with color of the paint. The cat is standing on a small flat wooden bridge that is just a bit longer than the body of the cat. The bridge is painted in various golden tones. The wood is painted to simulate a wood grain texture.

ARTIST BIO:
A former high school art teacher of 18 years, teaching a variety of Upper Level arts classes, Beth Ann earned her degree from the College of Mt. St. Joseph. She participated in the Big Pig Gig with a friend, naming their pig Going for Baroque. Hound Solo

Dug Paxton

DESCRIPTION:
"Hound Solo" - A graphic tribute to the Scoundrel of the Stars, Space Pirate, Smuggler - the one and only Han Solo. I have transformed the blank hound dog into everybody’s favorite scruffy looking nerf herder!

ARTIST BIO:
With his obsession of pop culture and his penchant for matchbook painting, Dug Paxton has created a niche in the art industry that allows his creativity to flourish. Dug's imagination was sparked when he began using scraps from his 11x14 art board to paint mini-tattoos and portraits. Those soon morphed into the beloved micro-portraits that have become his passion, alongside tattooing.

Dug has been drawing in one capacity or another since he was very young, but it wasn't until beginning his apprenticeship in a tattoo shop that he began to develop his own style; loose and heavily based on traditional American tattooing. Although there are many artists who Dug admires: Skottie Young, Alex Ross, Bill Watterson, Mike Rooth; he is inspired most by humor and a desire to elicit a response from his audience.

Dug has a full house with his children: Aoife, Finnian, Declan, Rizzo and Giggs his Boston Terriers, Shoshanna his cat, and his amazing wife Sherry.
