Pets In Need provides an alternative to surrendering pets to a shelter. Its vision aligns with the mission of the Kenneth A. Scott Charitable Trust to extend generosity and assistance to animals and those who care for them.

Thinking about struggling families or people in need, many of us have a preconceived idea of who those people are.
For some, it’s easier to assume those in need are separate from their communities and quite different from their own families. However, after spending more than 35 years as a veterinarian and two years on the Pets In Need of Greater Cincinnati board of directors, I’ve learned those assumptions are often incorrect.

Charlie Nager came to the Pets In Need veterinary clinic three years ago, when his Newfoundland mix, Shadow, was ill.
The Lockland man knew his pet was suffering, and money was tight. A friend told him about the nearby clinic, where care is provided for little or no cost to those who meet income criteria. So Nager, who was experiencing tough times, came to Pets In Need.

Pets In Need of Greater Cincinnati received a $12,500 grant from The Greater Cincinnati Foundation (GCF) to support extended care for dogs in need. The grant was part of $160,000 in grants awarded by The Greater Cincinnati Foundation to fourteen local animal welfare organizations that support the well being of the region's pets.
