Our good friends and animal lovers, Sara and Michelle Vance Waddell have made a generous donation to sponsor our pet food pantry in memory of their beloved Steffi G, who passed away earlier this year at the age of 15. The donation will allow the pantry to stay stocked when donated food supplies are low.
On Friday, April 15th, volunteers, clients, and staff gathered to celebrate this milestone.
Many thanks to all of you who have supported us generously with both time dollars. We wouldn’t be here without you! A big thank you, too, to our clients for trusting us with the care of their beloved pets. their pets.

A lifelong friend of animals, Carol Sanger has created numerous ways to make a difference in the lives of those who cannot speak for themselves.
Upon retiring as VP/Esternal Affairs for Federated/Macy's in 2005, Carol joined the UCAN board and was soon elected chair.

New member, Jack Walkenhorst, DVM, recently joined the Pets In Need Board of Directors.
The former Regional Director of VCA Animal Hospitals brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the organization. Dr. Walkenhorst has been assisting in the clinic on a weekly basis. His other credentials include being a board member of the Cincinnati Veterinary Medical Association and Diplomat Emeritus of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners.

The congregation at St. John United Church of Christ in Reading has been a supporter of Pets In Need almost since the day the clinic opened in 2013.
Recently, Joe Clay and other members of St. John’s delivered two pickup loads of pet food. We’re so grateful for their continued support!

Calling all pet lovers: Pets in Need of Greater Cincinnati will host its third annual fundraiser, Petcasso, on Nov. 19, at The Carnegie Center of Columbia Tusculum.
New this year is the “Painted Pets” auction of unique artwork by Mara McCalmont, local artist and creator of the “Peter Max” Painted Pet, and other artists who are donating their work.

Although diabetes is a well-known disease, many pet owners don’t realize it’s not only prevalent in humans, but in our pets too. Raising awareness of diabetes in pets is especially important because although it’s not curable, the disease is more manageable the earlier it’s diagnosed. In support of National Pet Diabetes month this November, Veterinarian and Pets In Need volunteer board member, Dr. Jack Walkenhorst, discusses the signs, symptoms and management of pet diabetes.

Pets In Need of Greater Cincinnati’s third annual fundraising event, Petcasso, exceeded its $30,000 fundraising goal, with nearly double the attendance over last year’s event.
Two-hundred-fifty guests gathered at the Carnegie Center of Columbia Tusculum Nov. 19; the event was emceed by Cincinnati City Councilman P. G. Sittenfeld.

For all of us pet lovers, it’s hard to imagine life without our furry companions. They provide unconditional love, endless laughter and often become more than a pet; they become a member of our family.
More than 30% of Cincinnatians live in poverty – that’s more than 86,000 individuals. Around the holidays we often think about helping our struggling neighbors by donating food and other resources, but what about their pets?
