The former Regional Director of VCA Animal Hospitals brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the organization. Dr. Walkenhorst has been assisting in the clinic on a weekly basis. His other credentials include being a board member of the Cincinnati Veterinary Medical Association and Diplomat Emeritus of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners.

Calling all pet lovers: Pets in Need of Greater Cincinnati will host its third annual fundraiser, Petcasso, on Nov. 19, at The Carnegie Center of Columbia Tusculum.

New this year is the “Painted Pets” auction of unique artwork by Mara McCalmont, local artist and creator of the “Peter Max” Painted Pet, and other artists who are donating their work.

Although diabetes is a well-known disease, many pet owners don’t realize it’s not only prevalent in humans, but in our pets too. Raising awareness of diabetes in pets is especially important because although it’s not curable, the disease is more manageable the earlier it’s diagnosed. In support of National Pet Diabetes month this November, Veterinarian and Pets In Need volunteer board member, Dr. Jack Walkenhorst, discusses the signs, symptoms and management of pet diabetes.

Record-Breaking Attendance at Petcasso

Pets In Need of Greater Cincinnati’s third annual fundraising event, Petcasso, exceeded its $30,000 fundraising goal, with nearly double the attendance over last year’s event.

Two-hundred-fifty guests gathered at the Carnegie Center of Columbia Tusculum Nov. 19; the event was emceed by Cincinnati City Councilman P. G. Sittenfeld.
